Description

Banks Peninsula is located on the east coast of New Zealand's South Island. One of the main harbours on the peninsula is Akaroa Harbour, where the pretty township of Akaroa is located. The Onawe Peninsula strikes out from Duvachelle Bay and was the scene of a major Maori massacre in 1832, when it was invaded by Ngati Toa chief, Te Rauparaha.
